John M. Boland
John became president of Spartan in July of 2015.
Prior, he had served for 17 years at SMW Systems and at ATS Workholding, after its 2006 acquisition of the former. He was CEO of the combined organization for six years, and its president for ten.
John was raised in Connecticut and earned his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York in 1990. Upon graduation, he moved to Southern California to join the Ingersoll-Dresser Pump Company as a manufacturing engineer. After several years with Ingersoll, John joined Kaiser Aerospace and Electronics Corporation, serving as the lead manufacturing engineer in a focused factory dedicated to manufacturing stabilizer-trim actuators for various commercial and military aircraft. During this tenure, John earned his MBA with a concentration in corporate finance from the University of California in Irvine. He joined SMW Systems as a product manager in 1997 and progressed through a variety of positions there, including Vice President of Sales.
Jack founded Spartan Precision Machine in January of 2015 after leading a group that purchased one of its key suppliers, Momentum Machine Tools, LLC, the month prior.
A seasoned industry executive with over forty years of experience in industrial distribution, Jack had prior founded and led to great success Associated Machine Tool Technologies, Inc. (AmTTech), the Texas distributor for Daewoo/Doosan Heavy Industries America Corporation, Machine Tool Division. Jack founded AmTTech in January of 1991 to serve the Houston area, was granted the the North Texas region in mid 2000, and established a satellite sales office in Grand Prairie in September of that year.
He designed, built and opened a 32,500 square foot state of the art productivity center in early 2008. Even today, this facility rivals many machine tool builders’ national technical centers.
AmTTech consistently ranked as one of the top three dealers for Doosan internationally, and it is noted for excellence in sales and customer service.
Jack also is a Member of the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), is an inaugural member of the Distribution Working Group (DWG) sub-committee within AMT, was an inaugural member of the Daewoo/Doosan Product Development Council, and was an inaugural member of the Daewoo/Doosan Distributor Advisory Council (DDAC).
He earned his BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri in Kansas City (MUKC).
Anne moved to Houston, TX and joined AmTTech in the fall of 2000, progressing through a variety of responsibilities until, in 2007, she assumed her current role of Vice President/CFO. As such, she oversees the day to day operations of AmTTech, and she has been instrumental in developing and growing the service organization to support demand and the sales growth of the company.
Anne grew up in New Hampshire and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH in 1993. Upon graduation, she spent 7 years working in heavy construction as a staff accountant and in the assisted living industry in the role of assistant controller responsible for the budgets and financials of 7 assisted living facilities in Massachusetts. In addition, she developed the HR role and handled the HR related work for the multiple facilities. She was involved with the marketing and preparation for the sale of the assisted living facilities to a synergistic buyer. Anne also earned an MBA earned from Texas A&M University, in College Station, TX.

Parker moved to Texas to join AmTTech as a Service Engineer in 2014. Since the initiation of Spartan, he has been overseeing the technical aspects of the machine tools that Spartan imports. His responsibilities span field installation, servicing, customer training, and overall engineering coordination. He also acts as a liaison with the machine tool manufacturers to assist in product continuous improvement process.
Parker was born in Taiwan and was raised in Canada where he earned his Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Toronto. In addition to AmTTech/Spartan, he has worked in the automotive industry and inside various machine tool builders, including Spartan’s supplier, Momentum LTD of Taiwan.

A native of Southern California, Denise Varella has over 20 years of experience in the machine tool industry.
Starting with a machine tool accessories company, Denise worked in various sales and applications departments, learning all aspects and disciplines related to workholding and lean manufacturing. Additionally, she sold CNC machine tools for a major distributor in California. During that outside sales work, Denise was responsible for territory development, account management, and applications.
In addition to her work experience, Denise has earned an Associate’s Degree in Small Business Management. She has also achieved Certified Machine Tool Sales Engineer (CMTSE) accreditation.
